Visit to Clara Fields factory in Clara.

On the Wednesday 26th of October last, the Transition Year students from Killina Presentation Secondary School availed of the opportunity to visit Clara Fields factory in Clara.

We received a very warm welcomed from Tommy and Billy on arrival.

Clara Fields produces Dulce de Leche from milk and sugar.We were shown around the production plant and witnessed  how the caramel is made, packaged, prepared for shipment and stored. They also talked us through how they got their idea from relatives in Argentina and the process of setting up and maintaining a business.

As students we were interested in asking questions and Billy and Tommy were happy to answer them. We were all amazed by how such a simple recipe can create a delicious sauce! We were delighted to receive a small tub of caramel at the end of our visit which we put to good use. It was a great experience and helped us understand the role of small food business in our country. We wish to thank Tommy and Billy for their time and great welcome.
