Update on reopening
14th August 2020
Dear Parent(s) guardian(s)
As notified previously we are working on, and planning for the safe reopening of our school.
You were notified previously of the changes to our reopening arrangements and the new dates that each year group will return. One year group will start back each day, beginning with 1st years on Monday 31st August. (see previous news item for the full list of return days/dates)
Students when they return will be required to wear face coverings, where 2m social distancing can not be achieved. It is important that all students are clear on the proper etiquette and way of wearing, removing and storing of face masks, this link will prove useful https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/face-masks-disposable-gloves.html
I strongly urge you to discuss this with your son/ daughter. Full compliance with this measure will be required. The only exceptions to this would be based on documented medical advice and as such, if you have concerns, you should make contact and discuss these with us before school reopens.
Book rental materials are being prepared and will be distributed before the school reopens. If you wish to partake in the book rental scheme (new or renewing the rental of books) payment must be made before books are distributed. If you choose not to renew book rental then the books will have to be returned to the school before the new year commenced on the same days that books are being distributed. For the time being, lockers will not be in use, as maintaining social distancing is not possible at lockers. Students should keep their textbooks at home for study/ homework and teachers will direct them to the relevant pages/ chapters. Students will need to bring in copies and pens and pencils for their classes. Locker rental which has been paid for will be reimbursed.
The full plan for school reopening will be communicated to you towards the end of next week. Updates are posted on the website and a text sent to parents. However we are keen to have an up to date database of parental emails, which we hope will allow for more seamless communications. Email addresses will be used for school business only and in line with the schools GDPR policy. Upload your email address via the following link https://forms.gle/tv2nqVdL5T2FG9Bn7
We appreciate that parents/ students may be anxious and have questions we wish to encourage any students or parents who have questions in advance of reopening to contact the school at any time over the next few weeks
Kind Regards
John Cotter
